Daily journal of photos of excavation and Installation of a San Juan fiberglass swimming pool with perimeter fiber optic lights, waterfall with fiberoptic lights, custom inlaid tile butterfly and border tile, and two-stage concrete pool decking and retaining wall. Project started on October 8, 2005, and was ongoing daily with the exception of most weekends and rain days. Use the menu below or the navigational buttons at the bottom of each page to follow the job as it progresses. The daily journal follows the entire construction with on-the-job photos and videos taken at each step of the installation. All thumbnail photos can be clicked on to see super enlarged images. The pool arrived on October 13, and we have added shortcuts to the videos taken that day in the righthand column below (in both WMV and QuickTime format). There are lots of additional photos on the Oct. 13 day as well. We hope you will enjoy this photo diary of our project (scroll down for day-to-day construction schedule). Kathy & Mike

We wish to thank the folks at Alpine Pools for a professional job. Their staff was enjoyable to work with and very knowledgeable. As the pool was finished and the snow was starting to fly, so we were unable to use the pool until this spring. On April 10th, we opened the pool officially. The water temperature was only 45 degrees but the heater got it up to 82 degrees relatively quickly (about 5 degrees an hour). We've kept it at 82 since then and have been swimming every day! It's fantastic and we truly love it. The patio furniture is all in place and, as weather permits and nurseries are stocked for summer, we will be doing additional landscaping and gardening around the pool deck. For updated pictures, click below: JUNE 2006 - Finished Landscaping Around Pool Progress Report (June '06): The pool has now been open for two months and we have been swimming every single day. We are truly amazed at the easy maintenance of this pool. The Aquabot keeps the bottom spotless, so we never have to vacuum. The powerful filter keeps the water sparkling clean and when the chlorine is low, which rarely happens since we have the AquaTrol Chlorine Generator, all we have to do is tweak a dial and it dispenses the correct amount of chlorine. It is truly unbelievable! We had heard for years how hard it is to maintain a pool, but this one has been pretty much self-sufficient. Even after a big party, it was clean as a whistle by the next morning. Progress Report (End of Season): We closed the pool at the beginning of October and it has truly been a dream to own. Maintenance is minimal with the equipment that we bought and if we had to do it again, we would get exactly the same things. The chlorine generator and the cover were two must-haves as far as keeping the pool clean. And the AquaBot pool sweep is also a worthwhile investment as we never had to use the pool vacuum that came with the pool even once. The AquaBot kept the bottom clean as a whistle. Click here to see a list of the equipment we used as well as the extras we ordered.
